Styling Stripes (with Looks by Lau)

Hello Dahlings!:)

It's been said that stripes are one of the trickiest to style because it can easily make someone's body look quite widened and unflattering but is it really that hard to style? If you've said yes or hesitated to say no, don't worry. The beautiful Christina of Looks by Lau and I have your back here to help as inspiration to styling stripes.

Christina's got on a top with skinny vertical stripes that's better to ease in to if you're just starting out with stripes and is more flattering than if it were to be thicker stripes. She kept it classy with a long white blazer and a hat. Perfect for everyday wear. Check more pictures and details of Christina's outfit here.

For those who want to try something a little more out there with the stripes, girl , I got you. It's been scientifically proven that vertical stripes can trick the eye into making you look a little slimmer. I've got on flowy high-waisted striped pants which help to elongate my body and make me look a little taller. Because one red lip isn't enough, I added a red lip clutch. I think it brought a bit of a pop art feel with my striped pants and the funky lip clutch.

So, was it that tricky or did we nail it? You decide. The only question left now is: are the pieces we're wearing black with white stripes or white with black stripes?

How do you like my lips now?

  4. I love how we matched so well without even planning it haha! I'm glad you went with a bolder approach as I obviously went more subtle. It's nice to see how versatile stripes can be. Those pants look stunning on you too! You styled it perfectly with the off-the-shoulder crop top. Classy as always! Can't wait to collaborate again sometime! :)
